Home repair contractor in Tucson

Stucco, roofs, doors, framing, decks and bathrooms, repaired by a licensed, family-owned Tucson team.

Licensed repairs, one point of contact

Most Tucson homes don't need a big remodel. They need a stucco crack fixed before the monsoon, a roof leak found and stopped, a rotted door frame replaced, or a deck railing made safe. AZ Atlas Builder Group is a family-owned, licensed general contractor in Tucson (AZ ROC #344537). Alongside our bigger builds, repairs are a big part of what we do, and our own crew handles framing, structural work, stucco and roofing in house.

That matters because many repairs cross trades. A roof leak can rot the framing and crack the stucco below it. With one contractor, the whole chain gets fixed, not just the part one trade can see.

Repairs that usually come together

Some problems rarely travel alone. A stained ceiling usually means a roof leak, and sometimes wet framing above it. A crack at the corner of a garage door can point to a tired header. A leaking shower often means a soft subfloor. We look for the cause on every visit, then price the repair that actually fixes it.

What we're honest about

We don't do pest treatment. Termites are treated by a licensed pest control company, and we repair the damage afterward. If the only problem is an AC unit, an appliance or a single light fixture, a specialist in that trade is usually the better call, and we'll say so. Where a repair turns out to be a symptom of something bigger, like a roof leak behind a stucco stain, we'll show you what we found before recommending anything.

Licensed contractor or handyman?

Arizona has a narrow exemption that lets unlicensed handymen take very small jobs. According to the Arizona Commerce Authority, it only covers work under a set dollar amount, projects that need a building permit generally require a licensed contractor, and anyone working under the exemption has to say "not a licensed contractor" in their advertising. Before you hire anyone for structural, roofing or stucco work, check their license with the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. Our guide to hiring a licensed contractor in Arizona covers what to check.

Permits for repairs in Tucson

Many small repairs don't need a permit. The City of Tucson's permit exemptions page says replacing a door with the same size in the same location is exempt as long as no structural framing is added or changed, and small drywall repairs are exempt unless they affect a shear wall or fire-rated wall. Structural roof work needs a permit. County and town rules differ, and we tell you up front if your repair needs one.

Before and after the monsoon

Many Tucson repairs cluster around monsoon season: roof leaks, stucco cracks letting water in, and wood that has been soaking for years. See our monsoon home prep guide for what to check.

How it works

Call or send a request, and we walk the house, look at the problem and what's causing it, and give you a written estimate. One licensed contractor, one point of contact, from the first look to the finished repair.

Common questions.

Yes. Stucco cracks, roof leaks, doors, rotted wood, deck railings and leaking showers are a big part of what we do, alongside larger projects.

No, we're a licensed general contractor (AZ ROC #344537). That means we can take on repairs that need a permit or involve structural, roofing or stucco work.

No. A licensed pest control company treats termites. We repair the framing, trim and stucco they damaged, after treatment.

Many small repairs don't, but structural work usually does. Inside the City of Tucson, structural roof work needs a permit, and replacing a door with the same size is exempt if no framing changes. We tell you before starting.

Because the damage comes back. A stucco stain is often a roof or flashing leak, and a soft floor near a shower is often a failed pan. Fixing the source saves paying twice.
